International education

EDUCATION IN SLOVAKIA

There are public, private and church schools providing education in the Slovak language. There are also bilingual and private international schools that offer English, German, Hungarian or French language curriculum.

Slovak public system

Kindergarten 3 – 6 years

Primary school 6 – 15y

Secondary school 15 – 19y

Grammar school 11 – 19y

University/ College

A school year is divided in two terms, the first term from the 1^st of Sep. till the 31^st of Jan. and the second term from the 1^st of Feb. till the 30^th of June. The main holidays are in July and August. Students receive school reports after each school term.

There are not enough public kindergartens and it is not easy to enroll your child in one so the private sector is becoming more and more popular. The monthly fee ranges from 300 up to 900 EUR depending on the quality of activities. Some kindergartens use English exclusively, many teach it as a second language.
